Your image gets printed onto one of our premium canvases and then stretched on a wooden frame of 1.5" x 1.5" stretcher bars (gallery wrap) or 5/8" x 5/8" stretcher bars (museum wrap). Orchids are a traditional flower for lei making. Purple, green and white Hawaiian flower Leis are often given to visitors to welcome them to Hawaii. Orchid leis are also given as a thank you. Ancient Hawaiians could have made some sort of orchid leis as there were 3 varities of small orchids growing at higher altitudes, but it was only after Westerners found Hawaii's climate was ideal for growing orchids that the use of orchids became popular in lei making. Nowadays, orchid farms and amateur hobbyists in Hawaii have added so many hybrid varieties that orchids certainly seem like a very Hawaiian flower. Here I have used a basic orchid plate and then have added color to make different colored orchid prints.
The original was a hand pulled lithographic print made off of an artist created polyester printing plate. This print was made using a stipple technique on the plate to create a form of shading even though the lithographic printing method only prints one solid color for each mark...
