A Golden Plover wanders a White Hawaiian beach and suddenly discovers a treasure, a bit of seaweed, perhaps hiding a small crab. In Hawaii, Golden Plovers are treasures in themselves as they likely inspired early South Polynesians to make their epic voyage north to discover and settle Hawaii. The Golden Plover is a migratory bird from Alaska that flies all the way down to the southern islands once a year and these people knew it was a land bird, and it would leave their Southern islands and fly North for most of the year. There had to be land up there to the North. They followed the Golden Plover and discovered Hawaii.
