Plumeria trees grow all over Hawaii. You can just stop by the roadside and pick plumerias as the state often uses them on roadside state land for landscaping. In the winter, (cool season) they lose most of their leaves and blossoms, but by spring they start putting out blossoms very plentifully. Here is a lithographic print made of pink plumeria, in which the deceptively simple 5 petal shapes change depending on how the blossom is set up to be viewed. I use the same basic printing plate for different color flowers, I just fill in the blossoms with a different color.
The original was a hand pulled lithographic print made off of an artist created polyester printing plate. This print was made using a stipple technique on the plate to create a form of shading even though the lithographic printing method only prints one solid color for each mark. The artist also created a slight haze around each dot by inking with a very oily ink so some of the color seeped into the open spaces around...
