Your image gets printed directly onto a sheet of 1/16" thick aluminum. The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back. Green sea turtles are primarily vegetarian and eat limu (algae) growing underwater on coral reefs. They can often be seen just off shore diving down to munch on the algae. Sea Turtles are greatly respected in Hawaii. They are so calm and seem to be seriously reflective about something. They have a sense of wisdom. It is said to see one is good luck.
The original was a hand pulled lithographic print made off of an artist created polyester printing plate. This print was made using a stipple technique on the plate to create a form of shading even though the lithographic printing method only prints one solid color for each mark. The artist also created a slight haze around each dot by inking with a very oily ink so some of the color seeped into the open spaces around the dots. This is part of the creative hand printing process that a machine can't perform. It makes for a more subtle and artistic look.
